Tickled PINK

Hello my fashion loers and trendsetters!

My name is Alison E.

A 6-year fashion consultant; a very obsessed shopper; always seeking nail polish entrepreneur; longtime make-up lover! I will in future time be talking about anything beauty and fashion-related topics. Today's is about COLOR. Only one color in particular today.

But before we do that, a "little" about me:
  •  My ultimate FAVORITE  colors are: blue, purple and green.
  • I am 50% Sicilian/Italian-American. The rest of my heritage is mutt (English, French Canadian, Swiss German, Welsh, etc.).
  • I am engaged -  have been for 3 years but almost 5 altogether.
  • I live in Upstate New York. 4 -5 hours away from NYC - which I have been there a good handful of times!
  • I would love to travel and see where fashions have started out- Internationally of course would be fab-u-lous!
  • I've been at my job  for 6 years now and *I love it!* It's called Dressbarn. Ever heard of it? Well here is the website if you want to check it out anyways. Lots to always see! (www.dressbarn.com)

MY passion for fashion started out, unfortunately, late. But is it ever TOO late? Nope. I in actuality really did not care much about what I looked like in my younger years in to high-school. But in college though? (Whoo-hoo!) Wake-up call girlfriend! Once I started my job (at Dressbarn) in August of 2006, I thought I was fine the way I was. Wrong! I didn't think that my outer appearance would've changed: a complete 180 degrees. My inner self is still the same: quirky, detailed, fun, silly, && *now* trendy. I have more confidence than EVER PEOPLE! More power to us to those who don't/didn't believe in themselves && that shopping doesn't make you feel better about not just on the outside, but the inside too honeys! Which is why I am here blogging today. :-)

And I love fashion && trends (more now than ever)! Even more so, importantly, I
learning. About anything && everything, really. What is coming through the fashion world?! I read (almost) "obsessively" through fashion magazines (ex: ELLE, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, etc.). Looking up onto any search engines on the web on what ever I may feel like to me and maybe to you, too, on what the next best thing is.

What's the NEXT best thing? Hhmmm...?

Colors are CONSTANTLY && CONSISTENTLY making a comeback within each the seasons. And right now it's autumnal palettes.  Plus: This is October. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Now what does the fashion have as a new trending color RIGHT NOW? Of course!!

 PETAL PINK - InStyle Magazine

Just a little continuation on from InStyle Magazine:

Haven't got the chance to look at/read this magazine yet

This is InStyle's October issue. Go to any store that sells them or if your subscription is through them (my work gets it because our company's ad is in there sometimes!) then you are set to read.

If not though you can go to any of these:

  • Target
  • Barnes & Noble
  • Wal*Mart
  • Or just do what I do; go to the website itself! Most do nowadays!  :-)

I had mentioned that I love learning; maybe you can too!  Here are a few random facts about the color pink that you may have (or may have not!) heard of:

1. Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive.
2. Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman's cheeks.
3. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted.
4. In 1947, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli introduced the color "hot pink" to western fashion. She dubbed the shade "Shocking Pink," though today the color is more well-known as "magenta."
5. First Lady, Mamie Eisenhower, who loved and wore pink so much it became known as “Mamie Pink”.

Before I go folks, as said, I'll research whatever fits my fancy (and yours too!). I leave you a quote by Yves Saint Laurent:
"Fashions fade, (but) style is eternal!"

Live & Love Passionately & Fashionably,
Yours Truly,
Alison E.
